This course explains the role and responsibilities of a Health Care Assistant (HCA), who the HCA reports to, the Multidisciplinary team (MDT) and all relevant up-to-date employment legislation and entitlements. The course will also introduce reflective practice as a means of thinking about and analysing working methods with the aim of continuous improvement for the sake of both the HCA and the client.

This Health and Social Care Course is suitable for you if you are new to your role in health or social care or if you wish to gain this valuable qualification and find a job in this sector.
To commence this course ideally you will have achieved Junior / Leaving Certificate standard or appropriate FETAC/QQI Qualification or equivalent. Mature Applicants with relevant life and work experience are welcomed. Where deemed appropriate you may have to complete an English Language Proficiency Test.

Assessment
The course 5N0758 Care Support is assessed in the following ways, with the following weighting; Assignment 30% and Learner Record 70%.
Assignment 30%; An assignment is an exercise carried out in response to a detailed, easy to follow, brief with specific guidelines given to you by your tutor. It is a form of continuous assessment.
Learner Record 70%; A learner record is a self-reported record by you, in which you are required to describe specific learning experiences, activities, responses, skills acquired. You will compile a personal logbook/journal/diary/daily diary/ record.
Grading
Pass 50% - 64%
Merit 65% - 70%
Distinction 80% - 100%
Tutor Support
You will have access to support from your tutor by phone and e-mail. Your tutor will provide you with their contact details at the first session of your course. Your tutor can direct you to further supports available that we provide.
