We are proud to offer a variety of programmes, each tailored to learners passionate about working with people and supporting social change:
Intellectual Disability Practice (5M1761)
Our Intellectual Disability Practice course is designed for those who want to develop the specialised knowledge and skills needed to support individuals with intellectual disabilities. Throughout the programme, learners will explore person-centred approaches to care, with a strong focus on empowerment, advocacy, and inclusion. Practical understanding of health and safety, communication strategies, and the diverse needs of individuals within residential, day service, and community settings are central to the course. Graduates are well-prepared for roles such as residential care support workers, personal assistants, and day service support workers.
Social Studies (5M2181)
Social Studies offers learners the opportunity to explore the complex structures that shape Irish society and to critically engage with key social issues and policies. This course examines areas such as sociology, social exclusion, and marginalisation, giving learners a strong foundation in understanding the challenges facing different groups within society. It fosters critical thinking and a commitment to advocacy and social justice, preparing graduates for employment in areas such as homelessness support, addiction services, community advocacy, and residential care. It is an ideal starting point for those who are driven by a passion to create positive change.
Community Development (5M3050)
The Community Development course focuses on empowering individuals and communities to actively participate in shaping their social environments. Learners will develop a deep understanding of community development theory and practice, learning how to facilitate groups, build partnerships, and promote equality and diversity. Practical skills in stakeholder engagement and project management are also central to the programme. Graduates emerge ready to work in local development projects, community initiatives, nonprofit organisations, and social inclusion programmes, helping to build stronger, more resilient communities across Ireland.
Youth Work (5M4732)
If you are passionate about working with young people, our Youth Work course provides the perfect pathway. This programme equips learners with the practical skills and theoretical knowledge needed to engage and support young people across a range of settings. The course places a strong emphasis on youth development principles, effective communication, and the planning and evaluation of youth programmes. It also highlights the importance of safeguarding and building professional relationships. Graduates are well-suited for careers in youth services, educational support, community organisations, and outreach programmes, where they can play a key role in shaping positive futures for young people.
Supervisory Management (5M2468) – Social Care Stream
Designed for those aspiring to leadership roles within social care environments, our Supervisory Management course provides the skills needed to lead teams, coordinate services, and manage administrative functions effectively. Learners will gain insights into best practices in team leadership, conflict management, organisational behaviour, and human resources, all within the context of social care and community services. This course is particularly suited to individuals aiming to step into supervisory roles or to take on Person in Charge (PIC) responsibilities within care, disability, and community organisations.
Graduates of our Social Care programmes can look forward to a wide variety of career opportunities. Many go on to work in disability support services, both in residential and day service settings, where they play a key role in empowering individuals to live full and independent lives. Others find rewarding roles in community development projects, youth work, homelessness support, and addiction and rehabilitation services. For those aiming for leadership, supervisory and team coordination roles in care support environments are well within reach.
All of our courses are QQI accredited and provide clear, accessible pathways for further education and professional growth. Learners can progress to Level 6 awards in Social and Community Services or use their qualifications to access Higher Certificate and Degree programmes in areas such as Social Care, Community Development, Youth and Family Studies, Psychology, Sociology, and Social Work. Through the CAO system, learners can also use their QQI points to gain entry into a wide range of third-level institutions across Ireland, making these awards a solid foundation for a lifelong career.
