QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support with Forus Training

Infection Prevention and Control
This course clearly explains the scientific principles underlying infection prevention and control practices while providing clear guidance as to the practical application of those principles.
Safety and Health at Work
This course provides the learner with detailed knowledge on the role and responsibilities of the Health & Safety Authority (HSA) under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work 2005 Act. You will get to learn how workplace hazards and occupational health risks may cause injury or health concerns within the health sector in Ireland today and promote the importance of fire prevention and the knowledge of safe evacuation procedures for clients, visitors and employees.
Communications
In this course, learners can expect to garner a detailed understanding of the mechanics of communication. This course also details how to best to engage with others.

Care of the Older Person
This course is complete with up-to-date healthcare data, regulations and legislation, in addition to best practice guidelines for the Healthcare Assistant. It discusses the issues and specific care requirements related to an older person with cognitive and sensory impairment, dementia, Parkinson’s disease, cardiovascular disease, stroke, or mental illness
Care Skills
This course focuses on person-centred and holistic care to meet the client’s needs and promote independence. The training advocates that maintaining the dignity, respect and privacy of the client is a primary foundation for care-giving.
Palliative Care Support
This course guides you through the principles of palliative care, enabling you to apply these principles to your practice and reflect on and evaluate the palliative care you provide. It details the roles of the health care assistant (HCA) within the multidisciplinary team (MDT) in providing collaborative, quality palliative care to patients and their families
Care Support
This course explains the role and responsibilities of a Health Care Assistant (HCA), who the HCA reports to, the Multidisciplinary team (MDT) and all relevant up-to-date employment legislation and entitlements. The course will also introduce reflective practice as a means of thinking about and analysing working methods with the aim of continuous improvement for the sake of both the HCA and the client.
