Noelle’s Story
In the vast landscape of professional development, there are often obstacles that hinder career growth.
Noelle, a determined and ambitious professional, with amazing organisation and coordination skills, hit the ground running when she started out as an office administrator in the pharmaceutical industry. Her hard work and potential was recognised and she soon found herself being given more and more responsibilities. She loved that her abilities were being recognised and embraced the tasks she was given.
Then, all of a sudden, her career hit a standstill. The acceleration of her career slowed to a halt and, before she knew it, she had spent 8 years in the same entry-level role. She found herself at a crossroads where, although she was doing really well at her job, the doors to the next level were closed for her. Her career seemed to have hit a plateau. She realised that, although she was performing all the tasks of a Project Manager, this wasn’t reflected in her job title… or salary.
She discovered that the reason for this was that she didn’t have the qualifications necessary to be formally made Project Manager.
The Turning Point:
Frustrated by the limitations imposed on her professional growth, Noelle decided it was time to take matters into her own hands. Instead of surrendering, she identified the missing piece of the puzzle – the QQI Level 6 Major Award in Business Management. It was a turning point that ignited a fire within her to embark on a transformative journey of self-improvement.
Self-Directed Learning:
With determination as her compass, Noelle embraced the path of self-directed learning. Recognising that her free time held the key to her future success, she devoted some evenings and weekends to tutorials and assignments. With the help of her trainer, she tackled each module of the course and submitted her assignments. Noelle was on a mission, not just to meet the requirements, but to excel in her studies and emerge from the course a more knowledgeable and empowered person.
Balancing Act:
The journey was not without its challenges. Noelle had to navigate the delicate balance between her full-time job and the requirements of the course. Luckily, she was able to schedule her 1-to-1 online tutorials with her trainer at times that suited her busy schedule. With each passing day, she chipped away at the assignments whenever she had time and before long, she was ready to submit.
Triumph and Empowerment:
Noelle’s perseverance paid off when she successfully completed the course and was awarded a Distinction in her Level 6 Business Management course. Armed with newfound knowledge and a sense of accomplishment, she presented her qualifications to her superiors, making a compelling case for her well-deserved promotion. The doors that were once closed began to swing open, and Noelle stepped into a new chapter of her career – one marked by recognition, fulfilment, and fair compensation.
