What is this programme?

The Manual Handling Programme is designed to give you the skills and knowledge to safely identify and manage manual handling hazards in the workplace. You will gain a clear understanding of the consequences of incorrect lifting techniques and how to prevent the common back injuries associated with manual handling tasks.

Delivered in-person at the Forus Training office in Mullingar, the programme runs for 3 hours from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, with assessment completed on the day. On completion, you will receive a Certificate of Completion for Manual Handling.

Manual handling training is a legal requirement under Regulation 13 of the General Application Regulations 1993, making this programme essential for employees and employers across all sectors.

Manual handling training is a legal requirement under Regulation 13 of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 1993. Employers are required to provide training for any employee involved in manual handling activities. This programme ensures full compliance with your statutory obligations and meets the requirements of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005.

Yes. Manual handling training is a legal requirement under Regulation 13 of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 1993. Employers must provide appropriate training for all employees who carry out manual handling activities as part of their role.
The programme is 3 hours long, running from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. It takes place in-person at the Forus Training office in Mullingar on 24th July 2026. Both training and assessment are completed on the day.
On successful completion you will receive a Certificate of Completion for Manual Handling. This is a nationally recognised credential confirming your competence and compliance with Irish health and safety legislation.
No prior qualifications are required to enrol. Relevant life and work experience is sufficient. Mature applicants are very welcome. A Course Advisor is available to discuss your suitability if you have any questions.
The training takes place at the Forus Training office — Castle House, Castle Street, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath N91 Y896. Your printed learner pack will be provided by the trainer on the day.
Forus Training operates a Compassionate Consideration Policy. If you are unable to complete through no fault of your own — due to illness, bereavement, pregnancy, relocation, or other extenuating circumstances — you will be given the opportunity to complete the programme at an alternative date.
