How does the funding work?
- Contact Your Local Intreo Office: To determine your eligibility and begin the application process for the grant, we strongly recommend reaching out to your local Intreo office. They are equipped to provide guidance on how to proceed.
- Possible Funding from Department of Social Protection: If you are currently unemployed and actively seeking employment, you may qualify for financial assistance from the Department of Social Protection to cover some or all of your training expenses, up to a maximum of €1000. Once you’ve selected your course, we will provide you with a quotation. You can then take this quotation to your Intreo office to initiate the funding process.
- Schedule an Appointment with Your Intreo Case Officer: To pursue this funding opportunity, you’ll need to schedule an appointment with a case officer at your local Intreo office. During this meeting, you can discuss your specific case and initiate the funding application process.
- Decide when you want to start and complete the Funding Application Form: Following your discussion with the case officer, you will be provided with a funding application form. It is essential to bring the form to our office or send it to us by post
- Review and Approval by Case Officer: Once we have completed the application for, we will send it back to the appropriate case officer. They will review your application and assess your eligibility for funding.
- Receive Funding Approval from Department of Social Protection: If your application is approved, you will receive official notification of funding approval from the Department of Social Protection by mail.
- Reserve Your Course Placement: Upon receiving funding approval, please complete the application form for your desired course. Please note that we can only confirm your course placement once funding approval has been secured.
- Notify Us of Intreo Approval: When you receive approval from Intreo, please promptly email us the notification. We will then process your form and proceed with your course registration.
How to apply for the grant
You can apply for the grant through a case officer at your local Intreo Centre or Social Welfare Branch Office. Payment Process
Payment can be approved when:
- the learner attends the programme
- the learner undertakes the relevant assessment and achieve certification, Or
- the learner does not achieve certification but the trainer and applicant confirm that they undertook full assessment but did not meet the standard required
