Make a Difference in Your Community! Become a Home Care Assistant in 5 Weeks.

A qualification in homecare can open many doors for you. Working as an HCA in Ireland is a fulfilling career where you get to meet new people. The Home Care Programme is a joint effort by Forus Training and Connected Health to bridge the gap between prospective learners and employment opportunities. Hence, this programme will enable you to acquire the knowledge, skills, and competence to work under supervision in a variety of homecare settings.

With the Forus Training x Connected Health Home Care Programme you will be prepared to work as a Home Care Assistant in your community in just 5 weeks.

As a Home Care Assistant, you will provide quality experiences for individuals where they are happiest – at home! As part of our programme curriculum, we offer work experience opportunities to those enrolled in our courses. This will allow you to gain valuable and practical experience in your community.

 

What does the programme include?

Forus Training’s nationally accredited Home Care programme provides students with comprehensive, up-to-date training material and hands-on skill development. At the end of the Home Care programme, you will have the skills and knowledge needed for employment. The skills you gain in Forus Training’s Home Care programme will empower you to help others and make a difference in your clients’ lives.

 

This programme includes two healthcare modules:

 

 

Care Skills

Care Skills is a Level 5 QQI accredited mandatory module of the Level 5 Healthcare Support Major Award. It can also be completed as a standalone module. This minor award holds a credit value of 15 credits on the National Framework of Qualifications. This module is suitable for anyone who would like to begin a rewarding career as a Homecare Assistant.

Applicants who hold a Level 4 Certificate, Leaving Certificate (or equivalent) or who have relevant life experience are eligible to apply for this module.

 

 

 

Care of the Older Person

Care of the Older Person is a Level 5 QQI accredited optional module of the Level 5 Healthcare Support Major Award. You can also complete it as a standalone module. This module is worth 15 credits on the National Framework of Qualifications. It discusses the issues and specific care requirements related to an older person with cognitive and sensory impairment, dementia, Parkinson’s disease, cardiovascular disease, stroke, or mental illness.

Applicants who hold a Level 4 Certificate / Leaving Certificate (or equivalent) or who have relevant life experience are eligible to apply for this module

The Forus Training Home Care Programme in assoiation with Connected Health will guarantee you a paid position in the industry and will give you the opportunity to start your career with Connected Health (subject to terms and conditions). 

 

How much does the programme cost?

The programme is priced at €495. This includes both the modules as well as a learner pack. We have multiple payment plans in place for your convenience.

How will the programme run?

  • Firstly, you will receive a learner pack to your home in the post and meet your trainer Nancy Poynton.  Nancy will walk you through the steps involved in your assessment.
  • The learner pack includes the assessment brief, the slide decks, course manual, and further information about the programme.
  • You will have access to our learning management system. The Learning Management System is the most important tool for your course. The LMS contains all of your course content. This includes the slides (which may have extra content in the narrations), extra resources from your trainer, quizzes, links to the zoom tutorial sessions and the knowledge bank.
