Can I work as an SNA with this certificate? +

Yes. Upon successfully completing the QQI Level 5 and 6 Special Needs Assisting programme, you will have the qualification required to apply for SNA positions in primary and secondary schools across Ireland.

Are the classes live or pre-recorded? +

All 12 tutorial sessions are delivered live online — they are not pre-recorded. This is intentional: the live format creates a real classroom atmosphere, allows you to ask questions in real time, and helps you build a connection with your trainer and fellow learners.

What are the entry requirements for the Level 5 & 6 combined course? +

There are no strict academic entry requirements for the Level 5 programme — it is open to anyone with an interest in supporting children with additional needs. For Level 6 only, you must hold a QQI Level 5 minor or major Childcare Certificate, a Leaving Certificate, or equivalent qualification and/or relevant life/work experience.

How much does the course cost and can I pay in instalments? +

The Level 5 & 6 combined course costs €689 if paid upfront, or €733.95 in 12 weekly instalments of €61.16 each. The Level 6 only course costs €440 upfront, or €462 paid over 7 fortnightly instalments of €66 each.

Do I need to buy any materials? +

No — all course materials are supplied by Forus Training and accessible through our online Learning Management System in both text and audio formats. You can optionally request a printed Learner Pack by ticking the option during registration; it will be posted to you.

What is the schedule like? +

The combined Level 5 & 6 programme runs over 12 weeks, with one live online session per week at 7–8pm. Five weeks are dedicated to Level 5 and seven weeks to Level 6.
